No Voice over outbound SIP

Setup

phones---------CUCM------------CME---------ASA------Internet----------SIP Provider

We have an issue where outbound calls through our sip, signaling completes but we dont get audio. In the other direction Inbound sip calls work fine.

From the traces i have taken on an inbound and outbound calls on CME and ASA i dont see any difference and all looks to be fine.

This problem happened when we relocated office and had to change the CME ip address and the addition of an ASA fw. The ASA is setup to inspect SIP.

Hi there,

Can you clarify if you're saying that the call setup completes and you're on the line with the other person, but they can't hear you? And if so, can you hear them?

Can you share the CME and ASA configuration? The two things I'd look for to start is

  1. That the right codec was negotiated
  2. ASA isn't blocking/dropping any traffic

Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Works now.  We had previously just repointed the existing SIP trunk to the new gateway ip address.

We deleted and recreated the SIP trunk on CUCM. Best practise i read on a forum.

Well we seem to have fixed outbound sip calls but inbound is now broken. Running traces on inbound calls on the gateway i see this issue. The dial peer 300 routes to the CUCM where extension range 300-350 sit. Im suspecting an issue on the CUCM.

Hi,

What number is being dialed? And can you share your dial-peers and translation rules?

Also output of debug voip dialpeer when the call is coming in?

Regards,

Tim

.

1) first thing make sure you have proper translation -rules in place to covert digits send by provider to 3XX range

2) Make sure SIP trunk inbound CSS  have access to the phone partition containing 3XX DN's.

As suggested by Tim , run the debugs, number details and paste both dial-peer config in inbound from service provider and outgoing to CUCM.thanks
