Numbers displayed in corporate directory

Hello,

Is there a way to have CUCM automatically insert the special characters around the phone numbers in active directory, so that when a user searches for someone in corporate directory the numbers shows as (555)555-5555 instead of 5555555555??

We cannot include the special characters in active directory because doing so causes presence to lose functionality. So we need to preserve the straight 10 digit number in AD with no special characters, but have the special characters populate when a user searches for someone in corporate directory.

Not sure if this is possible, but it seems like a fairly standard feature.

Andrew,

I don't believe there is any way to format the user info (name, number, etc) in CUCM. All CUCM does is reads the info from AD or internal directory and displays it on the phone.

However, it is possible for you to use an external web server that can serve the corp directory info to the phones and in this external app you can do the formatting as you want. Basically you will need to get the IP Phone services SDK and create an app for this. Please check this link out.
