Personal Address book access from 8811 phone

We have some phones that have Personal Address Book and Fast Dial access from the settings button on the 8811 phone but some do not have this access.  Where would this be set up?  On the End User in CUCM, on the Device>Phone?  Somewhere else?

Personal Directory and Speed Dial settings are specific to each phone. If you need these settings on other phones, you’ll need to add them individually. Users can configure speed dial and create personal Directory by logging into the self-care portal.

The features themselves are documented:

Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series Administration Guide - Personal Directory Setup

Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series User Guide - Make a Call With a Fast-Dial Button

When you say that some users have access and others don't, do you mean that some have the features set up and others don't or do you mean that some users are able to access the correct buttons on their phone and others don't see the option?

The access to Personal Address Book (PAB) and Fast Dial on Cisco phones, like the 8811, is typically controlled by the User Features and the Enterprise Subscription settings in Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).

Here's where to check:

1. End User Configuration:

  • Go to User Management > End User in CUCM.
  • Find the specific user and ensure the following:
    • Enable User for Self-Provisioning is checked.
    • The user has the Standard CCM End Users role, which is required for access to PAB and Fast Dial.
    • Check that the user is associated with their device (phone) under the Device Association section.
    • Ensure that the user is assigned to the Application User Group that has access to Personal Directory.

2. Enterprise Subscription:

  • Check under Device > Device Settings > Phone Services.
  • Locate the Personal Directory service.
    • Ensure that the Enterprise Subscription is enabled for this service. If it's not, you’ll need to manually subscribe each device or user to the service.

3. Device Configuration:

  • Navigate to Device > Phone, and find the specific phone model (like 8811).
  • In the Phone Configuration page, scroll down to the Related Links section and choose Subscribe/Unsubscribe Services.
    • Make sure the phone is subscribed to the Personal Directory service, which includes PAB and Fast Dial.

By enabling the Enterprise Subscription, you can automate the subscription of all devices/users to these services without needing to do it manually for each phone. If it's a per-user setting, then ensure both the phone and user are properly configured for it.
