Phone line answering behavior

I have a 7970 phone installed.  I have two lines configured on the phone.

When the number assigned to line one is ringing and the user lifts the handset, it answers the incoming call on line 1.

When the number assigned to line two is ringing and the user lifts the handset, it goes off hook on line 1 and does not answer line 2 unless you press the line button for that line.

Is there a configuration option for the phone device in CUCM to tell it to answer whichever line is ringing so that the user doesn't have to select the line by pressing the line button??

Thanks!

Hello Curt

Look this parameter on CUCM:

"Always Use Prime Line parameter specifies whether       the primary line on an IP phone is chosen, if available, when a user goes       off-hook. If this parameter is set to True, when a phone goes off-hook, the       primary line is chosen and becomes the active line. Even if a call rings on the       second line of the user, when the phone goes off-hook, it makes only the first       line active. It does not answer the inbound call on the second line. In this       case, the user must choose the second line to answer the call. If this       parameter is set to False, the IP phone automatically chooses an available line       as the active line. This is a required field. The default value is set to       False."

Yup!  That was it.

In CUCM 7.1 there is a parameter on the device that tells it to use the prime line.  It can be set to on, off, or the system default.  I set it to off and it works the way the user wanted it to now.

Thanks!

Great Curt.
