Plantronics Amplifiers

We have M12 plantronics amplifiers with the head sets. The headset works if you unplug it from the amp and plug it directly into the phone. But if you plug it in with the amp it does not work. Unfortunatly this is causing issues since with the headsets and no amps the volume over the headset is very low regardless of how much you turn the volume up on the phone. Any one run into this elsewhere?

Thanks,

Hi Jocelyn,

We use many Plantronics Headsets without the M12 and don't have any issues. What Phone model are you using these with? The M12 is unnecessary for IP Phone models with the built-in Headset Jack. For other models like the 7906,7911 the M12 has to plug into the Handset Jack and then the Handset Cord plugs into the M12. If you must use the M12 you may need to adjust the Phone/Compatability setting slide (located under door on Left-Hand side of the M12)

Hope this helps!

Rob

Rob,

We are using all 7941G-GE phones. Are there any settings from the device config or elsewhere in CCM to adjust the volume for headsets?

Thanks,

Joy

Hi,

I also have one of the 7941G phones.

Boot load ID: 7941G_64-02070631Amd64megRel.bin.

The headset volume is very low, the volume control on the front does adjust lower to silent but the volume is way to low for normal office use, even a quiet office!

Thanks,

Dom

Hi Joy,

We don't use the 7941G-GE (plus we are running Firmware 8.2.1) so I can't test this for you but there is a Phone Firmware Bug that you might be hitting;

CSCsd67229 Bug Details

Handset volume is too high/Headset volume is a little low

Product third-gen-phones

First Found-in Version 8.1, 8.0(1), 7.2(2)

Hope this helps!

Hi Dom,

What model of Plantronics Headset are you using? The one part you may need which is required for all "corded" Plantronics Headsets (to go from Headset Jack on 7941 to "Quick Disconnect" on Headset) is;

Part#Amp-26716-01

Hope this helps!

Hi Rob,

Using a GN Netcom headset with a 8800-00-20 quick connect lead to the phone. No amplifier beign used but I have tried my GN Netcom - GN8000 MPA-UK amplifier, still no volume.

Is Plantronics the only headset useable with the 7941?

Also this part you mention, where can it be ordered from.

Thanks

Dom

Hi Dom,

The GN Netcom should work fine with the proper cord :) We did test them out at one point but chose Plantronics. The cords for different models of phones have the Transmit and Receive flipped in most cases;

The cord that you need is;

Cisco IP phones 79xx series **No 8800-00-37

The cord you currently have;

Plantronics Vista Base No 8800-00-20 **For use with Phones like the Nortel 3904

From this doc;

http://telecom.hellodirect.com/eBiz/pdf/headsetaccessories/GN_Netcom_1200_Smart_Cord_Spec_Sheet.pdf

Hope this helps!
