Problem with cat6a cable and cisco ATA 186 and 187

Good afternoon.  Has anybody had issues with faxing using a cisco ATA 186 or 187 when the fax line is using a standard cat6a terminated network jack?  We could not get the fax to work, and wound up putting the ATA next to the printer/copier/fax, where it works find on the standard 4 wire satin ribbon cable direct from the ATA port to the line port on the MFC.  We are well under the 300 foot mark from the patch panel to the device.  We have not had any issues using cat5e or cat6 cable with standard 4-wire phone codes from ATA port to panel, and wall jack to device, but with the Hubble C6ASPDSW wire type, we have not had any luck.

Just curious if other are having issues with ATA 186 and 187 models using cat6a cable.

Thanks.

No we use cat6 without issues. Is ATA registered with CUCM?

Good morning.

Yes, the ATA is registered with the CUCM.

The problem is using a standard verified network port for the analog phone line, in this specific building where we have cat6a cable, the fax will not receive or make calls. If we place the ATA next to the MFC (using the same port we tried to use for the analog phone line as the network line for the ATA) and use a standard phone cord from the ATA port to the MFC, it works fine.

We have ATA's all over the place and do this with network ports that are cat5e and cat6, but can't seem to get this one specific building with cat6a cable in it to work.

Thanks.

Nope, we run various ATA and analog VG3x0 series with cat6a horizontal and don’t have any trouble. The ATA sometimes have their own problems with DTMF reception but it is not cable related. Given you say 6A I asssume the cabling was certified when installed and it’s not just a case of the 4p2c cable not seating in the jack right?

There might be high noise and you might need to look at shielded cables

Thanks for the reply.

We are using plenum rated shielded Hubble cat6a part number C6ASPDSW. So we already have shielded cable and still have the issue.

Kind of interesting...
