Hello at all,

i'm trying to connect a Cisco 8851 3PCC with an Asterisk Cloud Telephonie System. Unfortenatly no way. Configuration of a SIP-Account not possible (always marking wrong SIP T1 and RTP Packet Size, but they are not changed, everything default settings).

An Upgrade is also not possible. Failure: tftp://10.x.x.x/sip88xx.11-0-1MPP-477.loads Upgrade failed. Reason: Upgrade Error - Bad Loads File.)

Firmware installed: sip88xx.10-3-1-9-3PCC

Can anything help?

Thanks and greetings,

Nils Rochholl

Hi Nils,

upgrade 1st to the 11.0.0.MPP-7 firmware. This is due to changes of the filesystem and security. That is the reason why you can’t upgrade from 1.x to 11.0.1.MPP-477.

step 1. Upgrade to 11.0.0.MPP-7

step 2 Upgrade to 11.0.1.MPP-477

Hi,

Most likely your phone is running a 10.4 firmware. If so, upgrade 1st to 11.0.0.MPP-7. From that point you can move to 11.0.1 or newer loads when released.

11.0.0.MPP-7 Firmware for the 88xx can be found here:
https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286255328&flowid=54175&softwareid=282074288&release=11.0(0.7)%20MPP&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

2nd: please use HTTP(S) to host the upgrade files as TFTP has some fundamental issues with large files. Some TFTP server can work around this by adjusting blocksize but not every setup work flawless.

Hi jeboer,

our phone is running sip88xx.10-3-1-9-3PCC. It's not possible to upgrade to cp-88xx.11-0-0MPP-7.zip. Neither TFTP nor HTTP/s is working. Everytime it's ending with failure.

Nils

Hi,

Did you unzip the file? If extracted you should see several files (including a .loads file).

Your upgrade url on the webUI (http://ip_address_phone/admin/advanced >Voice >Provisioning) should look something like:

http://ip_address_server_with_files/sip88xx.11-0-0MPP-7.loads) to prevent typo’s you could just copy past the filename.

Then submit changes and the upgrade should work. To test before the upgrade you could check if you can use a webbroswer/curl/wget to download the .loads file.

Hi jeboer,

yes, i unzipped the file. I also doublechecked if the file is downloadable.

And the used TFTP Server logged the connection and download of the loads-file.

There is following error in the logfile of the telephone (accessed via telephone-menu, not web):

An Upgrade is also not possible. Failure: tftp://10.x.x.x/sip88xx.11-0-1MPP-477.loads Upgrade failed. Reason: Upgrade Error - Bad Loads File.)

Hi Jeboer,

thank you very much, this was the solution!

One more question: how can i change the language to German? I already downloaded Language File and tried to install it on the phone, but i can't find the correct way.

Thanks!

Hi Nils,

step 1: download the locale file from CCO
step 2: unzip in a location where the phone can find it (e.g. the server hosting the firmware files)
step 3: create a Dictionary script and enter this on the phone (Voice > Regional > Dictionary Script)
step 4: add the script and the German language to the provisioning xml for the phone (or select language thru the WebUI)

sample Dictionary Script:
serv=http://ip_address_server/;d0=English;x0=en-US.xml;d2=German;x2=de-DE.xml;d2=Dutch;x2=nl-NL.xml

sample tags to be added to the provisioning xml (when you go to: http://ip_address_phone/admin/cfg.xml you see the full xml/config the phone uses):

<Dictionary_Server_Script ua="na">serv=http://ip_address_server/;d0=English;x0=en-US.xml;d1=German;x1=de-DE.xml;d2=Dutch;x2=nl-NL.xml</Dictionary_Server_Script>
<Language_Selection ua="na">German</Language_Selection>
<Locale ua="na">de-DE</Locale>
