Hi all

assume we have 2 branches A and B. In each branch we have third party voip gateway( new rock brand) with sip trunk integeratin with cucm( in head quarter).my question is:

when phone A( connected to fxs port on newrock voip) call phone B(connected to fxs port on newrock voip) , what will happen? I mean is it true that after call setup, phone A talk to Phone B directly( voice packet stream from Phone A to phone B and viceversa directly)?
best regard

Hi,

the audio will be phoneA ---- gateway A ---- gateway B ---- phoneB
(assuming you don't insert any MTP with MTP required option on SIP trunks).

Hello,

If you have MTP checked, call will flow from Endpoint one to MTP and then the other Endpoint.

Depending upon if its a software MTP or hardware.

Please rate if, helpful.

As @ItalkNetworks  mentioned, if MTP enabled on sip trunk  audio won't be direct  between endpoints. MTP comes in the audio path.

Media Termination Point Required

Enabling this option on the SIP trunk assigns an MTP for every outbound call.  With this option enabled, calls over the trunk uses MTPs assigned to the trunk rather than using calling device MTPs, which forces the media to follow the same signaling path.

RTP stream will flow  between endpoints. in your case between  location A newrock voip  and location B newrock voip.

Hi mohammad. Thanks for reply. I check that and “media termination point required” in sip trunk is checked( inserted). What will be happened in this case?

Thanks Nithin for your reply.

Hi,

Just adding to what the guys said, if you have the service parameter "Fail
Call If MTP Allocation Fails Service Parameter" is true, the call won't
continue without MTP. If this is false (default), the call will go through
without MTP if its not available.
