pwRecovery Failed

Greetings,

I'm trying to reset the admin password on my CUCM 7.1

I've followed the procedure on the the website as best as I could,

  1. Consoled into the device
  2. Used username 'pwrecovery', password 'pwreset'.
  3. Removed any disc in the CD/DVD drive
  4. Insert a CD into the drive
  5. enter a password for account "admin" and
  6. enter the password a second time

Each time I attempt this, it tells me I succeed and the password was changed for the Admin account.

I'm then returned to the CLI login screen.

I attempt to log in on the CLI using 'admin' and the new password and it gives me login failed.

I've attempted logging in using SSH, and it gives me 'Access Denied'.

Am I forgetting a step, or missing something? I have no access to use CLI (other then PWrecovery) since there are no other users for CLI

Please help.

Steps look good to me.

Recovering the Administrator Password

There are some bugs about this:

CSCsz39845            Bug Details

admin password becomes corrupt if correction is made  during pwrecovery

Symptom:

Unable to log in with SSH or CLI or Platform page
Conditions:

pwrecovery  method is used to reset  password.

If an unacceptable password  is entered in during a pwrecovery, the password is not usable.
There  are at least 3 types of passwords that are not accepted during a  password reset.
1. password too short
2. passwords do not match
3.  password in dictionary.

If 1 thru 3 above is used, an error is  displayed. Then if a correct password is entered, it appears the  password has been reset.
However, the password is not usable.
Any  attempt to do a pwrecovery, does not work.
Gui log in still works,  but unalble to log into platform Gui or CLI.

Workaround:
No  workaround

Password recovery tool is not working

Symptom:

Unable to reset admin/security passwords

Conditions:
Happens  of cc_mainline builds as well as guild ia tt6 branches

Workaround:
1.login  as root and reset OS admin password.
2.Using the reset password  login into CLI .Then again change the admin password using the command
set  password user

Further Problem Description:
The  pwrecovery tool does not reset the admin|security password even though  it reports to have successfully done so. When the reset password is used  to login it does not work.

Most of the fixes require or have the option to do this via root access, so you might need require TAC assistance if that's the case.
