Question in regards to Cisco CP-8851's Bluetooth feature

My first post so hopefully I have the most accurate category for this question. Our organization recently converted to a Cisco VOIP solution and for those wanting to utilize a Bluetooth headset we provided a CP-8851 phone. Shortly after deployment we came across a number of complaints about the headsets losing connection and being difficult to re-pair/connect the headset back up. The same headsets can be paired to any other device such as an iPhone and work flawlessly.

I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this and/or if there are recommended Bluetooth headsets we should be considering over others.

Hi Josh,

There is this clip from the 88xx release notes;

Bluetooth Handsfree Profile Audio Gateway

Cisco IP Phones 8851 and 8861 support Hands-free Audio Gateway mode to work with the Bluetooth headset.

Only following Bluetooth headsets are fully verified by Cisco to work with Cisco IP Phones 8851 and 8861:

  • Jawbone ICON

  • Plantronics Voyager Pro, Voyager PRO 2, and Voyager Legend

  • GN/Jabra GO6430, GO660, and UC Supreme

Hi Josh,

In addition to the useful info from Rob [+5] , please check Bluetooth related recommendations for 88XX Ip phones as described here

Hello all,

I'm having this problem with the MPP version of 8851. I own a GN/Jabra Evolve 75+ UC and the headset works for a few days, then will randomly disconnect and it's impossible to connect again.

Only workaround I've found is to reset the phone to factory defaults, and re-configure.

Is this a known issue? Can I expect it to be resolved in future firmware releases? Let me know if I can provide more information on this.
