Random Call Failures in Cisco IOS Voice Gateway

Hi,

I have a Cisco 2901 router configured as a Cisco IOS Voice Gateway.

The 2901 has a one-port E1 card with its port connecting to a PBX using Q.931/ISDN and one of the GE ports connecting via Oracle Acme Packet 6300 SBC to a Genband C20 soft-switch using SIP.

I noticed that call from any phone connecting to the PBX through the 2901 to the PSTN via C20 sometimes does not leave the 2901 on the GE port. I have a Wireshark trace running between ports connecting the 2901, the SBC and Genband C20 and cannot see calls leaving the 2901 via the GE port but I can see ISDN Q.931 messages showing that calls are reaching the 2901.

Sometimes, I can make between 3-5 calls before the call eventually leaves the 2901. At other times, the 2901 manages to get call through to C20 first time (i.e. at first call attempt).

Has anyone come accross this type of problem before? Any ideas on fixes for this type of problem?

Please note that incoming calls to lines/phones connected to the PBX works OK. Only ourgoing call from PBX through 2901 fails ocassionally.

Hi,

Since the issue is intermittent, you should get the debugs for a failed call when the issue is happening to understand what is causing the issue.

Manish

Hi Manish,

I have turned on both debug ccsip all and debug isdn all but can't find anything obvious in the debugs.

Are there any debugs you would suggest that may help show what the issue is?

Regards.
