It's usually very fast just a few minutes.  Beware though after running the temp fix of the recovery disk you should rebuild and restore from your backup (

Mine has been running for about 12 hours and only at 45 percent it's on block 7100000

That's by far the longest I've ever heard, there must be some major corruption.  Once it finishes you'll want to rebuild as in the above bug as soon as possible to get the system back into a stable state.
