Hi everbody,
We have a Cisco3945-cme-srst router that has 200 seat licenses , do we still need to include RTU(Right To Use License) on individual IP Phone?
Total number of phones is 188
The phones are: cp-7945g qty (25)
cp-6911-c-k9 qty (162)
cp-7965g qty(1)

Hi Sam,
Even with the newest ISR-G2 CME licensing scheme, Phone Licenses are Paper based RTU licenses (Right to Use).
Right to Use Feature licenses are not enforced. The "legal" expectation is that a license will be purchased for each phone but this is still strictly "honor" based
Here is a clip that speaks to this question;
Prerequisites for Configuring Cisco Unified CME
Base Cisco Unified CME feature license and phone user licenses that entitle you to use Cisco Unified CME are **purchased.
From this CME doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmeover.html#wp2286954
ISR 29xx, 39xx
Cheers!

Hi rob,
Thanks for your support.
We don’t want to include the RTU licenses on the phone, mainly because of cost implication.
Hope the solution and implementation will still work well without the RTU licenses on the phones?

Sam.
As Rob stated, it's a "legal" issue. However, if you ever want to switch to a CUCM environment you can transfer your RTU licenses for DLUs.
Just my $.02.

HI Rob,
I wanted to place order for the unified communication manager 7.1 with media convergence server (MCS7825I4-K9-CMC2).
But i later realized that this MCS server (MCS7825I4-K9-CMC2) is end of life but surprisingly i still find it on dynamic configuration tool!!!
Though, the replacement for this is ==> MCS7835I3-K9-CMC2 and cost $12,000 GPL which is quite more than my budget.
Is there any server apart from (MCS7835I3-K9-CMC2) that can still do the work of (MCS7825I4-K9-CMC2) and has the same price range like $7,000 - $8,000 GPL?

Hi Sam,
The reason you still see it available in DCT is because it's still shipping
Last Ship Date: | The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead time. | March 28, 2012 |
I don't see any other options available other than moving to the 7835 you listed.
Don't forget that the 7825I4 is supported until almost 2017 (December 31, 2016)
which is pretty well the standard length of support for one of these boxes
Cheers!
Rob
