SIP phones CME 10.5 and sip-ua registrar problem

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with SIP based (voice registrar configuration) CME 10.5 and sip-ua registrar which is registering to ITSP for SIP service (trunk).

First of all I'll try to paint the situation - we have voice flavored 2911 router. One physical interface (Gi0/0) is connected to ITSP. A loopback (which is used for phone registration) is reachable through a subinterface on another physical interface (Gi0/1). Phones are on a different subnet than CME's loopback (which is used for registering). ITSP requires sip registration which we do through sip-ua registrar command.

And this is what I've noticed: SIP phones (7821, 7861; sip78xx.10-2-1-12SR1-4) successully register to CME ONLY after I issue 'voice service voip' -> 'sip' -> 'bind all source-interface loopback0'. But that creates other problem - now SIP register messages (which are meant to ITSP) are sourced from loopback0. If I do 'bind all' to Gi0/0 then phones are not registering (there are no messages in debug ccsip from phones at all in this case - so I assume CME is ignoring that interface at all and uses only 'bind all' interface).

So my question - is this a know limitation (or a feature?)? Is it not possible to use SIP based phones in CME configuration and have sip-ua registrar side by side (if we are using different intrefaces)?

Thanks,

Andy

Ok, so I've solved that myself.

I did bind to loopback interface and then NATed sip-ua registrations towards provider.

Also I've ran into nasty defect which resulted in dropped calls even between locally registered phones:

This defect (CSCur95578) is present in 15.4.3M1 so avoid it.
