SIP Trunk PA System Configuration

Hi,

I am new to working with Cisco Phone systems. We recently had a vendor install a new Telecenter U PA system. They would like to tie it to the phone system so people can dial a number from any phone and broadcast to different areas on the PA system. All they can tell me is they need a SIP Trunk and a range of extensions on our phone system. I have done a lot of reading and created what I thought would work, but all I can get is a busy signal when we attempt to use it.

We are using CUCM 11.5

I have created a new SIP Trunk. For SIP destination I used the IP address their controller is using with the default port 5060 for destination port.

Next I created a route group and made it a member of the SIP Trunk I created.

Then I made a route list and made it a member of the route group. At the top of the route list I show that it is registered with the ip address of my CUCM.

Next, to set up the range of numbers to dial into, I created several route patterns. For Route pattern I am entering the 4 digits they would dial (ie: 4800). Then for the gateway I selected the route list I created for my SIP Trunk. Then I repeat for all the other numbers in the range we are making available for them.

I realize there are many other variables here, but I am brand new to this type of thing. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I am going about this the correct way. Is there anything obvious I am missing from my setup?

Any advice and/or assistance would be much appreciated.

Hey PerrNetAdmin,

I don't see a real problem with the approach you are using, however depending on the DID range associated to you PA, you may want to consider using a more generic Route Pattern with wildcards like 48XX, but apart from that, it sounds good.

If it is not working, you may want to collect detailed CUCM traces from RTMT and share that with us to see why the call is failing...

Thanks for the response. I did switch to the format you suggested, but the results are the same. Although I think I will keep that formatting, it is much cleaner and I can just give them that entire range.

Unfortunately I have been pulled away from this issue until Monday, but I will try and get traces from the system then.

Thanks again for assistance.

Sorry for the delay. I am hoping I grabbed the correct logs. For the info below I was dialing from number 5179. I have given 58XX route pattern to PagingSystem_RL. The PagingSystem_RL has PagingSystem_RG in it's selected groups. Then the PagingSystem_SIPTrunk is using the PagingSystem_RG. The number I am dialing is 5815. I have made the text red where I see that call in the logs. Thanks.
