Hi,
Here is something I am wondering about:
When we connect a Cisco SIP device to a callmanager like 9xxx/8xxx IP phone or ATA187 for example, then these devices behave like a SCCP device.
When connecting a 3rd party device like a linksys ATA or X-lite soft phone , it needs a lot of configuration on both sides and in all cases a user name/ password.
Why do these 3rd party devices need so much configuration? Is the Cisco SIP, real SIP or has it some proprietary SIP in it?
Just curious
Can someone shine some light on this?
Thanks,
Jan

Most of the time, Cisco SIP end devices are pre-provisionned inside Callmanager.
This is not the same with Third Party SIP end devices.

Hi Pierre,
Thanks for your answer.
Can I then do also some provisioning for 3rd party devices?
And do I still need username/password?
Thank you,
Jan

Per-Provisionning of SIP third Party devices is not available.
