I have a 3745 with a lot of slip secs and error secs on the controller. I am not versed in voice yet but I can tell call quality is not great. Some users report that callers cannot hear them.

3745#sh controller T1

T1 0/1 is up.

  Applique type is Channelized T1

  Cablelength is long gain36 0db

  No alarms detected.

  alarm-trigger is not set

Soaking time: 3, Clearance time: 10

  AIS State:Clear  LOS State:Clear  LOF State:Clear

  Version info Firmware: 20071009, FPGA: 20, spm_count = 0

Framing is SF, Line Code is AMI, Clock Source is Line.

CRC Threshold is 320. Reported from firmware  is 320.

Data in current interval (569 seconds elapsed):

0 Line Code Violations, 0 Path Code Violations

569 Slip Secs, 0 Fr Loss Secs, 0 Line Err Secs, 0 Degraded Mins

569 Errored Secs, 0 Bursty Err Secs, 0 Severely Err Secs, 0 Unavail Secs

  Total Data (last 24 hours)

T1 4/0 is up.

Framing is ESF, Line Code is B8ZS, Clock Source is Line.

Current port master clock:recovered from backplane

Also configured on the router:

no network-clock-participate slot 2

network-clock-participate slot 4

network-clock-participate wic 2

network-clock-select 1 T1 4/0

Can someone point me in the right direction to troubleshoot?

Add wic 0 to network-clock-particiapte, i.e. network-clock-participate wic 0.

Can you also provide "sh network-clocks"?

Chris

Here is the result of the sh network-clocks command:

3745#sh network-clocks

  Network Clock Configuration

  ---------------------------

Priority      Clock Source    Clock State     Clock Type

     1          T1 4/0          GOOD            T1

    10          Backplane       GOOD            PLL

  Current Primary Clock Source

  ---------------------------

Priority      Clock Source    Clock State     Clock Type

     1          T1 4/0          GOOD            T1

Can you explain what network-clock-participate wic 0 does?

Your controller output shows you have a T1 circuit in port 0/1 assuming this is your voice circuit you are having issues with, you want to make sure it participates in clocking as all voice circuits and DSPs need to. Clock slips/errors are caused by not having proper clocking participation as evident in your environment.

Will I need to schedule maintenance to put in these commands?

Depends on your change management process, but applying this command does not cause any outage.

Thanks Chris. I'll try this out and post back the results tomorrow.

I tried to insert the command:

network-clock-participate wic 0

The response from the router was:

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

Which commands can I use to display all the WICs?
