Software calling phone number from Cisco 7911

Hello,

 

I'm new to Cisco and I would like to know how we can add to our software the ability to place a call from a Cisco IP Phone like the 7911.

Basically, we would place the phone on hand free speaker and dial a number. Next the user could start on hand free or pickup the phone.

Where should we start?

I am not sure what you need exactly. But I don't think you are looking for click to dial since you are using 7911 phones.

If I understand correctly, you may be after click to call functionality. There used to be UC widget called "Cisco Click to Call" that used to let you highlight a number or click on a number on browser or outlook etc to dial it from your desk phone.

But with the advent of Jabber or more and more tight integration of phone/IM&presence services etc. it has been killed and is no longer available after version 8.1. Cisco advises customers to move to Jabber.

So it appears you may need to look into soft phone options instead now like Jabber or integrating your IM&P system (for example Lync) with CUCM. There may be some third party apps for this purpose but never tried or looked into that.
