Static & Echo on ATA 187

We recently replaced a dead ATA 186 with a 187.  Since that time the caller on the analog side is noticing static on their side and the other caller is hearing echo.  We have tried changing pairs between the ATA 187 and the analog phone, but the issues will not go away. 

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot these issues?  I have not tried changing the impednece settings on the ATA 187.  Would that make a difference?

The 187 seems to be plagued by many problems.

You can try updating firmware or search the forum for similar threads.

I believe the problem has been resolved by changing the imdepedence from 600 Ohms complex (the default) to 600 Ohms real.
