Static

Lately we've been having issues with static during phone calls.  The static appears to only occur during outgoing external phone calls.  Calls coming in from external sources or calls within the organization appear to be OK.  Furthermore the static is occasional with some people getting it and others not.  Any ideas what may be causing the static?  What should we be checking?  Thank you!!!

Hi eborrocal,

First, you need your scenario. Are you running CME o CUCM? T1, FXO or E1?

Regards

We're running CUCM 10.5.  We are using PRIs (from WOW) to connect to the outside world.  We're located in the US.  Hope that helps you help me.  :-)  Thanks!

It's weird to have static/echo issue on T1.

Did you check if T1 has slip, errored or violation error?
Use command: show controller t1.

If so, it could be a faulty card, layer 1 or maybe some clock issue.

Regards

This is no longer an issue (for at least right now).  Our phone service provider stopped by and restarted their equipment.  They also cleaned the fiber connections.  Unfortunately, at the same time, our network administrator restarted some routers so we'll never know what ultimately eliminated the static.

Thank you all for your help!
