Subscriber Swap

Hi,

We currently have 2 subscribers that have gone EOL. We have  2 UCM servers ( publisher and subscriber) in stock that came from an office that was recently shut down.The software version on these spare servers is the same as the ones in the existing cluster( 7.1.3). Ist is possible to just do some minor reconfiguring (change ip and other settings) to get these added to our exisitng cluster or do they have to be wiped out and loaded fresh. Will our publisher just overwrite the exisitng database?

Hi Chris

You'll need to reinstall both "new" servers. The Pub from the 2nd office would need to be rebuilt as a Sub anyway. Your Sub from the other office wouldn't know about the current cluster and would also need to be reinstalled from scratch.

If you want to retire your existing Pub (and replace it with one of your new servers) then you're looking at DRS backup and restore of the current Pub onto the replacement hardware.

A fair amount of work to do I'm afraid.
