3850s support 802.3af

The Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches support full IEEE 802.3 at Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+),

Q. What IP phone models support the IEEE standard method of powered device detection?

A. These Cisco IP phones support IEEE 802.3af PoE:

  • 7961G-GE

  • 7971G-GE

  • 7931G

  • 7941G-GE

  • 7945G

  • 7965G

  • 7975G

Note: These Cisco IP phones support both the Cisco pre-standard PoE and IEEE 802.3af PoE:

  • 7970G

  • 7961G

  • 7906G

  • 7941G

  • 7911G

  • 7962G

And what about the models 7912 and 7940? is it not supported in this switches?

Do you have the reference link for this issue?

Thanks in advanced.

36 and 38s do not support the old poe type its all changed to IEEE standard 802.3af type 3 , if there not on that list there not supported , i know definitly that the 7940s are not supported only 7941s

just google 7940 data sheet if you want the reference links i dont have the eaxct links for each phone

As tested on a  "WS-C3850-12X48U-S" the 7940 does power on after a bit of delay.
