Can a software client be installed on a laptop to enable video conferencing between a remote employee with one of the main sites?

MultiSite, Dual display, and premium resolution are all options for the SX20 Quick Set.

By they way, the limitation of 720p30 without the Premium Resolution option applies *only to transmitted and received video*.
Local video from a PC or SelfView will display at the native resolution up to 1080p60 or 1920x1200. We recommend that a 1080p or 1920x1200 monitor be used to avoid video scaling at the output of the SX20.

if i connect to a b2b webex on the SX20 would a call of 1080p actually connect and use 1080p to webex default 720p (webex default) if so the premium resolution is useless over webex ?

The second question was never answered. Is there a software client that will connect a laptop/desktop with a web cam to a site that has an SX20?

Yes, any standards-based SIP software client can connect to SX20 or any otther Cisco TelePresence endpoints. Cisco offers Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence as a soft client for video.
