Hi all,

I have registered a new SX20 my CUCM 9 cluster all working well apart from outbound calls to the PSTN via H323 gateway, inbound calls work fine but outbound drop after one ring. I believe this is down to the SX20 trying to G722 for calls even thought my dial peers are G711, i have tried registering a transcoders to the gateway with no joy. is there anyway i can force the SX20 to G711 when calling the PSTN??

ISDN Q931 error is

Cause i = 0x80AF - Resource unavailable, unspecified

i see from debug voip ccappi inout

Mathew,

If you have registeed the device to CUCM, then you can use region settings to set the codec to G711..Configure the region between the device and the h323 gateway to G711..Then ensure that the inbound dial-peer on your h323 gateway has either voice-class codec with g711 on it or configure the dial-peer to use G711..

If you have configured a xcoder..and its not working then you need to look at the inbound dial-peer on your h323 gateway..what the codec set to? for a traditional xcoder to work one leg of it has to be G711..unless you use a universal transcoder which can conver between non G711 codecs

Hi,

Both Deivces sit in the same region which has the Max Audio Bit Rate set to 64 kbps (G.722, G.711) which allows both G722 and G711.

on my inbound dial-peer voip dial-peer from the cucm i use this voice class

voice class codec 1

codec preference 1 g711alaw

codec preference 2 g711ulaw

codec preference 3 g729r8

codec preference 4 g729br8

Thanks

Matt

You have two options..

1. Disable G722 in CUCM service parameters

Browse to System>Enterprise Parameters

Search for Advertise G.722 Codec

Disable the Advertisement of G.722 Codec

2. Use the new Audio codec preferecnce list feature in CUCM 9

Create a new Audio codec preferecnce list, in that  list Ensure G711 is above G722, assign the list to your region

test again..

Please send debug voip ccapi inout and debug isdn q931 if you still have issues
