TFTP server upgrade during CUCM upgrade

Hello,

I am upgrading CUCM cluster consisting of 2 servers (Pub and Sub) from 7.1(4) to 7.1(5)SU3. Currently one of those servers serve as TFTP server. Also russian locale is installed on both servers (cm-locale-ru_RU-ES-7.1.5.1100-1.cop.sgn). There are also several desktops on TFTP server and MoH files. I am wondering if these files will stay on server after upgrade or not?

Thanks a lot/

Yes, those files are in a common partition and not in the ones used for the actual CUCM/OS.

Hi Sergey,

Just to add a note to the great info from my friend Java (+5 "J")

You will likely need the latest locale after this upgrade

cm-locale-ru_RU-7.1.5.1200-1.cop.sgn
Release Date: 16/SEP/2010
Cisco Unified Communications Locale Installer ES-7.1.5.1200-1 Russian (Russian Federation) for Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1
Size: 22589.85 KB (23131998 bytes)

Cheers!

Rob

If i am upgrading cucm OS from 10.5.2 to 10.5.2.SU2a do i also need to upgrade the tftp servers ?

I also have several different locales on the server... do those need to be upgraded also ?

Yes, ALL the servers in the cluster need to be running the same CUCM release, if there are updated locales, yes, you should install the most recent ones, if there are not, you can keep the ones you're using.

Thanks man... it made more sense when I realized this customer had two dedicated TFTP / MOH servers for their cucm cluster.    I was assuming the TFTPs were hosted off a couple of the call manager servers and was having a hard time trying to figure out how to upgrade just the TFTP portion of a server that was already upgraded.

Thanks again ... !!!

Guys, thanks for your help again.

Upgrade went well. And we didn't use this latest locale, coz the old one seems to work fine. Is it worthy to upgrade locale, you think? Does it require server restart to work properly?
