Hi!
I have a new customer who has a third party PBX that support only G.711 and I would like to use CUBE to give PSTN, but the ITSP support only G.729. Can I use the CUBE as trancoder?
Until now I had only CUCM as PBX, and I configured the media resources in CUCM.
Is it possible and, if yes, how should I configure the CUBE?
Thanks,
Mirko

Sure, you have 2 choices, use LTI (locally registered transcoders to CUBE):
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unified-border-element/115018-configure-cube-lti.html
or configure CME via telephony-service on the CUBE router and register transcoding sessions to it.
Option 1 would be my recommendation.

Thank you for the quick replies, I will test it in a lab!

Hi,
I've tested the LTI configuration method and I think it is OK. The active and associated with the CUBE. When I make a testcall I can see the active call wth one leg as g711ulaw, and the other as g729r8 something works not right: the outside phone rings and when I pickup the call I have no audio. After 4-5 seconds the call disconnects.
In debug ccsip messages I see that "488 Invalid Media Parameters" coming from the ITSP....do you have any idea how to solve this problem? My experience with this ITSP has often been delicate in concerning with codecs and media...

voce bundle isr2 like 2901-2951 with pvdm and cube licences can do it.
one dial-peer to pbx with codec 711 and another to pstn with codec 729
