You can use a CUBE

Transcoding on the Cisco Unified Border Element

thank you too much but I have some questions:

regarding the configuration I found the following:

telephony-service

load 7960-7940 P00303020214

max-ephones 48

max-dn 48

ip source-address 200.1.1.100 port 2000

sdspfarm units 1

sdspfarm transcode sessions 50

sdspfarm tag 1 MTP123456782012

create cnf-files version-stamp 7960 Jul 29 2002 13:50:03

Can I say I have to make virtual CME to handle the transcoding and MTP??

No. The CME process only handles locally-registered phones and associated features. You will need to use CUBE to resolve the session border needs.

Thank you Jonathan for your  reply,

but I did not understand what you mean exactly

if I configured the transcoder how I can tell the cube to use it ( how I can invoke the transcoder?)

and why I need to put the telephony service configuration ?

Any body can give me more clarification?

There was a hint in a "CUBE - ask the expert" on that.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/136540

"CUBE xcoding is triggered purely by a codec mismatch between the two VoIP dial-peers"

The XCODER is SCCP managed, so it forcefully needs CUCM or CME.

That's why you need the telephony service config.

Thank you Martin and javalenc for your support and 5 points for each

but I have one question:

If I have CUBE configured in the CUCM as H323 gateway and in it is connected to SIP provider. In CUCM GW configuration page I checked required MTP and in the same time I configured MTP or Transcoder using DSPs and I registered it with telephony service not with CUCM which MTP the CUBE will use.

I am asking about this because I do not know what is the exact behavior for checking MTP required in CUCM, Dose the CUBE use it for incoming and outgoing calls or one of them?
