Translation Pattern

Hi All, 

Can any one please explain how the below Translation Pattern is happening exactly:

 

  • 111[0-9][0-9][0-9].!
  • 5[47]XX
  • *1.[1-46-8]XXX  (Pointing to VM)   
  • 111[0-9][0-9][0-9].*! (Pointing to VM)  

It would be highly helpful if i get explanation with an examples for above Patterns.

Jaime is correct this is just the match you gave here. Dependent on whats configured it either strips digits off or expand digits. It also can translate the CSS etc. there are so much options.

Just for what you posted:

111[0-9][0-9][0-9].! and 111[0-9][0-9][0-9].*! are almost the same. I guess strip everything before the 7th digit (would be the dot) and leave the rest. For VM you probably use a * in the binning.

so first would match 111(...)1234 and is probably resulting in 1234. The second would match 111(...)*1234 and will result in *1234

5[47]XX is just a match for a range of numbers 5400-5499 or 5700-5799

*1.[1-46-8]XXX will probably strip *1 and will result in four digit number 1000 to 8999 (so exclude 5000-5999 and 9000-9999)
