Two projects, One CUCM - provisioning

House Cat

Hello, I'm investigating options to provision phones. Company CUCM is serving two projects which start with 888-XXXX and 777-XXXX directory numbers. Translation patterns are configured to within project to dial XXXX, and full digit dial if calling to the other project. Each project has it's own set of device CSS and GW trunks.

LDAP integration is done through email as one phone can have up to 5 users. Helpdesk leaves Active Directory User's telephone empty. No difference in AD between projects, both served as the same type on same server.

So I need find a way to provison phones for two different projects on one CUCM? How can I do it? Where do I define DN range? Can I have several IVR on one CUCM?

Second thing, how moves, adds and changes are managed on provisioned user?

I'll assume this is going to be using 11.x as you don't mention the version, you don't have many options, you can use auto-registration to get the basic config, if there's not going to be a DN assigned to the users when you sync them to CUCM, that would be it.

I'd tell you to use self-provisioning, but that will automatically create the lines that are required for the feature to work, based on what you have in your LDAP for phone number in the LDAP sync, if there's no value for that field, self-provisioning would not work.

Self-provisioning only allows one IVR

You can always use BAT.

There is absolutely no difference in how you manage your users and devices if you use any provisioning method CUCM has.

Thanks for that Jamie, doing standart config for autoreg phone devices means we just change it's DN, that helps to reduce efforts.

Another question, do you know if Prime Collab Provisioning can be any help for this case?

That is correct, you will need to change DNs once the phones get auto registered as per your requirement there. Not sure if PCP an be of any help here however if you have UCCX there in your environment then you can use TAPS which allows the users to choose a DN of their choice by calling into the TAPS application and configure/change other settings as well which were there during the time of auto registration
