UCM9 eDilivery - Different Product Numbers?

In the PUT (Product Upgrade Tool), I noticed that the UCM9 has different product numbers.

  • R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9= is eDelivery (Electronic Delivery) ONLY.
  • UCM-9.0-SW-K9= can be physical or eDelivery.

My question is: since we can choose eDelivery option for UCM-9.0-SW-K9=, why we need a another product number R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9=?  Any differences between these two?

Thanks!

You can order either R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9 or UCM-9.0-SW-K9 depending on the type of delivery
you are looking.

R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9 is for edelivery and UCM-9.0-SW-K9 is physical delivery.
Cisco encourages to order the edelivery (R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9)
Physical delivery are strongly discouraged given the time and expense involved with physical delivery of media

With the introduction of eLD and eSD new Top Level SKUs were created:

L-xxx-xxx is a SKU that will provide electronic license delivery.

R-xxx-xxx is a SKU that will provide electronic software delivery.

Use the top level SKU (xxx-xxx-LIC) for physical delivery.

Subordinate SKUs are now configured for either electronic or physical delivery.

Delivery type is determined by the Top Level SKU chosen.

Thanks for the info.  But that didn't answer my question.

For "UCM-9.0-SW-K9", there's also a eDelivery option.  See the screenshot in 1st post.

So what's the difference between "UCM-9.0-SW-K9 eDelivery" and "R-UCM-9.0-SW-K9"?

Thanks!

I have the same question. i.e. What's the diff between selecting eDelivery on a non "R-" prefix p/n vs using the R- prefix p/n?
