Hi Kolawole,
Excellent question!
Cisco Unified Communications is the "Brand" name of the overall family of products which includes (I'm sure that this is not a complete list :);
IP Telephony - Communications Manager,Communications Manager Business Edition, Communications Manager Express and UC500
Voice Messaging - Unity, Unity Connection (part of Business Edition) and Unity Express
Video - Telepresence
Mobility - Cisco Unified Mobility
Conferencing - MeetingPlace and MeetingPlace Express
Applications
Presence - Cisco Unified Presence
Call Centre - Cisco Unified Contact Center
Unified Messaging is an enhanced, IP-based software solution that gives subscribers the ability to receive voice mail, e-mail, and fax messages in a single mailbox that can be accessed via the phone or from a desktop browser or e-mail client.
Cisco Unity Connection is a feature-rich voice and integrated messaging solution. It is referred to as "Integrated" rather than "Unified" because of the use of the IMAP client access to Voicemail messages on the email client.
