I will be upgrading a unity server from 4.0.4 to new server hardware running unity 7. Current configuration is AD with unified messaging, exchagne server 2000. I was planning on using COBRA to import the users to the new box but COBRA doesn't work with 4.0.4 and I want to avoid upgrading the existing unity box. Is there a prefered method to accomplish this to minimize downtime?

Jack,
Anything pre 4.0(5), the only real option you have for migration is DiRT. You'll need to use DiRT back up the system. Install that EXACT same version of 4.x on the new servers (OS shouldn't matter but the Unity version and ES patch revisions do - they must be an exact match). From there, you'd restore with DiRT and then do an in-place upgrade to Unity 7x.
