Unity Connection 7.1 to 8.6 License Unrestricted from PUT

I just completed my PUT order for the upgrade license from 7.x to 8.x and the only options I was able to see were for the UNRESTRICTED version of the software. I waited for my order to be fulfilled and eDelivery to happen and sure enough, I got a PAK.

I registered the PAK and downloaded my migration license and in the license it says its for the UNRESTRICTED version of CUCXN.

Will this work for a restricted install? I want to stay on the restricted setup... should I open a case with licensing?

Hi William,

I see your dilemma here

If you were to use the Software Download linked to this order

you would most likely be offered the "Unrestricted" version of

CUC 8.6 which you don't want.

The licensing portion will be fine, but you'll either want to re-do

the order via PUT or just download the restricted version via CCO;

It should look like this;

UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.2.22900-9.sgn.iso

And NOT this;

UCSInstall_UCOS_UNRST_8.6.2.22900-9.sgn.iso

Cheers!

I don't think the license matters, but you certainly want to install RESTRICTED version, so make sure the install media is such.

HTH,

Chris

Is there any documentation to back that up? Has anyone ever run into this issue?

Hi William,

Just to add what Mr. Chris has said:

Please refer to URL for Call Manager . It would be same for Unity connection as well.It says

In addition to the delay inherent in obtaining export licenses, products classified

as restricted by the Department of Commerce (DoC) carry a requirement to allow

US government representatives to demand on-site inspections at any time to

confirm that the product is being used in accordance with its licensed purpose.

Hi William,

+5 to Chris & Aman for their good notes/tips here!

I've never seen an actual reference to the build version

"Restricted vs Unrestricted" in a license file so I was wondering

if you might be able to attach a santized copy here.

You may be seeing;

LicRegionIsUnrestricted

Which is common to all CUC license files we've ever used and we

are running the Restricted version

Cheers!

I was looking in the License file and saw the part you are referring  to, and maybe I mis-spoke in my original post about seeing it only being  for the unrestricted version. However, when I ordered through PUT, I  was only able to select the export unrestricted and got the eDelivery  message attached.

Yes, I have 8.6.2a (SU2) (UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.2.22900-9.sgn) from another install I did for another customer, so I have the CUCM/CUC software I need without downloading anything. I just wanted to confirm that the "unrestricted" license could and would work for the restricted version of software. I was really looking for any kind of documentation I could get that points this out.

I was offered the unrestricted download through that link in the eDelivery email and wanted to make sure the license was compatible with both.

Thanks very much for your help!
