Unity Connection - Email vm headers

Hello,

I have a client that wants to know about email headers when receiving.  Below is the exact request;

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Our Cisco Unity server emails us when we get a voice message. Some of these messages are getting flagged as spam by Outlook.

[cid:image001.png@01CF84D2.F55460A0]

As you can see the message was sent to a strange email address. john@john-cuc<mailto:john.john@xyz-cuc>

The message is received by the exchange server on the correct email address as shown by this exchange message tracking log.

However the message headers below do not show my real email address anywhere.

Can you explain this behavior? I am trying to under the stand the process so I can explain it to my boss. I am also wondering if using the domain on xyz-cuc is best practices or not, and how to prevent these messages from getting flagged as spam.

Hi,

With Unified Messaging on Unity Connection the message isn't technically sent, it is placed in the mailbox by Unity Connection using the account you have created on the exchange server.

The lookup is done on username so if you don't have the correct email id configured in Unity Connection it will still place the message in the users mailbox.

To confirm what email ID you have configured check a users SMTP Address, you can only edit the user part of this and the domain is already set.

To change the SMTP domain in Unity Connection go to;

System Settings > SMTP Server Configuration > Server and click the Change SMTP Domain button.

Regards,

Richard

You could change the SMTP domain but, generally speaking, that's not the preferred/recommended route.  Instead, you can setup a recipient policy in Exchange that defines an alternate SMTP name for the users in the format of the CUC SMTP domain.

Hello David,

has there been any progress on masking SMTP when using SmartHost?
