Unknown Number keep on Calling

Hi Community,

We had last week a persistent caller trying to get hold off several people within the organization. Initially, we have blocked his number from gateway. Today we are receiving call from him again, but the number is now showing as "Unknown Number" from IP Phone. We looked on and check from CDR and in Trace, and we have no/null calling party number. We are using H323 voice gateway.

Why is that the Service Provider not sending the ANI? is there a way we can check identify that caller's ANI within our administrative domain? Thanks!

Because you can also configure your system to not send ANI when you call (If using a PRI/SIP), if your telco allows it, there's nothing that prevents you from doing it, same for whoever is calling you.

You have no chance of finding anything about this calls if you don't receive that info in the setup message.
You would need to engage your telco if you want to find more info, and even then, you don't know who is the telco of the other guy.

You can also configure your GW to reject calls on which there is no ANI, this has been covered plenty of times on CSC before.
