I have a fun one coming up here. Since DMA is not supported, Im expecting will have to use BAT to export the devices from CUCM 3.x and then rebuilt it all over on 8.x for a clean re-install. Luckily this is single small site, but still.. Anyone find a short cut for this? I thinking of simply rebuilding the gateways, route plan items, then importing the phones.
Cheers!

Small site? Use CME, less money, more features, portable configuration

well, small site being about 200 phones and they want redundancy with
pub/sub and some features CME does not have..... (CUPS, etc)

Tommer,
No shortcut on this one. You can export the phones from 3.x using BAT but the data you'll get won't match up (as you know) with what you'll need to BAT back into an 8x environment. You'll have to spend some time cleaning up the 3.x BAT files and mapping in new attributes for newer versions of CUCM, as needed. IMO, the cleanest way to do this is approach it as a new installation on the 8.x side. Build all of the system configurations, route patterns, etc as new - although you can base them on what is in 3.x today (if that data still applies). From there, at least you'll have some phone data to BAT in once you get all the fields populated and etc.
Depending on the version of 3.x, the only real "shortcut" and I don't know how much of a shortcut it would really be would be to upgrade to 4.1 and then run DMA and go from there.
