Upgrade CCM 4.1(3) to 6.1.1(a) with IOS Transcoders and Conf Bridges

Guys: very strange issue, I tried to upgrade to CCM 6.1.1(a) from 4.1(3)in the lab as a dry run for production and after the upgrade none of my configured Enhanced IOS devices: Transcoders and Conference Bridges would register. I had to delete them all and re-add them all as "Simple/Standard" IOS Transcoders and Confrence Bridges. Once I did that they all registered. Now this really freaked me out because now I know the day of the production upgrade I have a ton of extra work to do to get this all working.

All of my ios devices are 2800 and 3800 series routers ie)HDV2s..thus I thought that allows you to add them as "Enhanced" IOS devices. Am I wrong?

Please help. Thanks guys.

Which DSPs you have?

For PVDM2-X (8,16,48 and 64) we use IOS enhanced...

For PVDM-12 (c549) we use regular IOS

Could you please share with us a sh run and sh diag from your ISRs ?

Thanks

This is a pvdm2-32 that I had to change to standard IOS Conf Bridge from Enhanced after the DMA upgrade. Any Ideas why?

Hi,

Try to upgrade your IOS.

I have confenrencinf and Xcoding with CUCM 6.1(1a) and it didn't work with 12-4.4T.

I just upgraded my Voice gateway and it worked.

Check also the command in your IOS:

sccp ccm 192.168.X.X identifier 1 version 5.0.1

Be sure that version is set to 5.0.1

Hope it will help u

Fabian

TAC Says:

I ran into a similar issue couple of to times last week with callmanager upgrade.

"sh sccp all" showed

sh sccp shows the MTP state as follows

Transcoding Oper State: DOWN - Cause Code: NOT_REGIS_WITH_CCM

CCM traces reveal the following ...

04/05/2008 12:28:28.147

CCM|MediaTerminationPointControl::tsp_discovery_MediaTerminationPointTsp

CCM|Err

- Device = MTP000E3905AEA0, Changing Device Types - New LoadId= C00104000002, TCPPid = [4.100.7.399]|

In one case,

We needed to change the line from:

sccp ccm 172.18.72.12 identifier 1 priority 1

To:

sccp ccm 172.18.72.12 identifier 1 priority 1 version 4.1

- And we need to change the name of the transcoder from:

associate profile 1 register XCD123456

To:

associate profile 1 register XCD

In other case,

Device was created as an IOS Enhanced hardware conference bridge

Deleted it and created as IOS hardware conference bridge and trancoder and then it registered.

Did you run into similar scenarios??

Obviously I was running into the second of his two example issues. However! ES 2105-2 was made publicly avaiable 2 weeks ago. I applied that and it fixed it.

Double check with TAC, but I thought I heard that there are not enhance IOS or standard in CUCM 6.1.
