upgrade fail (authentication error

Hi there !

I need some help here to understand why some of 6921 ip phones are getting error when I try to use them... they are trying to register in a CUCM 7.1.5 .. and are in a remote site.

I set them to use User Locale in Portuguese... and also, when they try to upgrade the firmware from (9.0.2.0) to (9.0.3.0.b) I have this error.. so the phones only work with the version (9.0.2.0) and in English...

Is there any configuration to be checked ?

After some reboots... some of them work... in Portuguese and with firmware (9.0.3.0.b)

Thanks.

Andrei.

Hi,

I also have the same issue.

Some, not all, locations with CP-6921 phones can not upgrade the firmware.

They are trying to upgrade from 9.0.2.0 to 9.1.1.0.

CUCM is 7.1.5.33900-10

I don't know which initial firmware comes with CP-6921 phones that worked correctly. But they are from another country.

Anyone has a fix?

Regards.

Hi,Try use Signed firmware files.

In your case it will be: cmterm-69xx-sccp.9-0-3-b.cop.sgn

Our phones were with Preinstalled "cmterm-6921_6941_6961-sccp.8-5-3-0.cop.sgn"

As i remember, there was no problems with it.

Hope it helps.

I think there is a “problem” when you have a 69xx with more than 100ms from the CUCM… not sure about the delay… and I don’t have the link about this (sorry)..

But what I had to do was to put the files in a local tftp server so the phones could download the files…

Andrei.

Hi,

I think the delay will be the problem:

- CUCM in Spain vs. DP-6921 in UK -> Upgrade successfull

- CUCM in Spain vs. DP-6921 in Mexico -> Upgrade fail

- CUCM in Spain vs. DP-6921 in China -> Upgrade fail

In fact, the China's Local provider upgraded successfully the phone connecting it to a local CUCM image.

I'll try with another TFTP server and tell you.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Definitely, It is a problem with the TFTP delay throught the WAN.

I have placed local TFTP servers with the needed files, and configured the TFTP Server option on the phones 6921 to the new local, and it works fine. They upgrades successefully.

Regards.

I’m doing the same..

CUCM is in Brazil.. and 6921 are in Europe… so I placed the firmware files in the router… and set the ip phones TFTP to the router IP…

After firmware upgrade, I’ll redirect the TFTP to Brazil

Hello Alberto,

I tried to use a TFTP server in the remote sites without success.

Could you help me out, I put the files in the TFTP server and the phone ask for this file.

XMLDefault.cnf.xml

I created this file with this...

2000

SCCP69xx.9-2-2-6

Thanks for you time!

Alejandro Mendoza

We are facing same issue with the remote site upgrade of cisco 6941 phones. Can you please advice us with the required files that we need to mention in local TFTP to perform local firmware upgrade.

Thanks

Nisar

Well we can't put a local TFTP server in the remote site.

We solve the message"authentication error" by deleting the certificates in the 69XX.

These are the steps on the phone

Push Settings>Admin Settings>Reset Settings>Security> Reset.

After these steps, the phone erase the certs and gets a new ones from CUCM and the message gone.

hope this help.

Alex
