Is there an easy way to do an upgrade from 5.0.4 to 8.0.2 or should I just load the 8.0.2 as a fresh install and import my configs back in? If I do a fresh install can I use the DR stuff to pull a back-up that was made and restore to my new version?

That upgrade will take a lot of intermidiate steps but still possible.
5.0.4 -> 5.1.2 -> 6.1.2 -> 8.0(2c)

DB schema and other options are not compatible, so you cannot restore 5.0.2 backup in 8.0.2

So I could just load the new version and rebuild what I have now with doing the restore. I only have a dozen phones and about 15 or so directory numbers....not too big.

Hi,
Just FYI there is this tool on Cisco.com that can give you information on upgrade for CUCM
