Upgrade from CUCM 7.1.5 to 9.1 (No UCSS and ESW contract)

Hi,

we have CUCM 7.1.5 cluster (two servers) with no UCSS and ESW contract.

What would be the best and cheapest way to upgrade to CUCM 9.1.

We are planning to use our VMWare system and buy only CUCM 9.1 software (no servers).

Can the current DLU's be trensfered or do we have to buy everything from scratch.

Regards.

Kasper,

Device means phone. Jabber is not counted as a device its a soft client. Its inluced in the enhanced on top of one device i.e one phone.

Terry I just tested this on a demo installation of CUCM 9.1. Adding an IP communicator and a Cisco Dual Mode for Android to a user says that an Enhanced Plus license is consumed. If I don't assign the

Cisco Dual Mode for Android to a user then an Enhanced license is consumed fot that device.

Hi Kasper,

Yes thats the correct behavior, CIPC will consume an enhanced license. Its counted in the devices but as I already said Jabber client is included on top of the device.

Yes but as I said adding CIPC and Cisco Dual Mode for Android to a user consumes Enhanced Plus license for that user.

If I don't associate the Cisco Dual Mode for Android for the user that an additional Enhanced license is spent for the Cisco Dual Mode for Android. Am I doing something wrong?

I saw this thread as I've been trying to establish answers to similar questions.

I'm assuming an Enhanced covers a desk phone and Jabber IM/Presence, but not Jabber voice/video (desktop or mobile) at the same time as the phone? Is that correct?

I would have thought that is classed as 2 devices and requires Enhanced Plus, but really I am unsure.

So if a user has a desk phone and wants to use full jabber both on a desktop and mobile, what license would we need for each user?

Terry looking at the chart you posted I see that for analog devices Essential licenses are needed.

Currently we have a VG224 voice gateway and the licensing tab in CUCM says that there are 22 Analog devices but no DLU's are consumed.

Do we need Essential licenses for those devices?

Regards.

Kasper - Yes you need essential licenses, each analog port on a Cisco VG224 Analog Voice Gateway consumes a unit in the license file.

OK thank you
