Upgrading a CUCM version 6 to 9

Hi Guys

Is it possible to upgrade a CUCM version 6 to a version 9?

Or do I need a complete infrastructure upgrade? I know these would use different servers, version 6 on the MCS platform and 9 is on UCS platform.

Many thanks

There's an FAQ that shows on top of the main page and within it, a telephony FAQ which covers upgrades.

You need to review the SW compatibility table (which is in the FAQ as well)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf

Supported Servers for Releases of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Including Business Edition 3000/5000/6000 and Session Manager Edition) and Cisco Intercompany Media Engine

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html

Whether you need a complete infrastructure upgrade or not, no one can tell you if you don't mention what you have.

With the above links, you can answer that question after reviewing them.

Currently this is the setup.

2 X CUCM 6.0.1 - MCS-7835H-3000

1 X UNITY 5.0 - MCS-7835H1-ECS1

1 X UCCX 5.0 - MCS-7835H-3000

and and this is supporting 400 users or so? they want to add a further 400 userd and also use the latest 7942 as well as 7965 phones. they also want to the CCX licenses and upgrading to the latest SW version
