Upgrading from 5.1.3 to 7.x

Hello - I am in the planning phase of upgrading our CM from 5.1.3 to 7.x. I am starting this discussion to learn from the issues others may have experienced throughout your upgrade process. - - - -Do's, Don't, compatibility issues, licence issues etc. If you care to share, I would also like to hear of all the advantages, post 7.x upgrade.  Thank you.
