Hi
I've got a VIC2-2FXO card where the voice port is being changed to a down state with the following error "%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Foreign Exchange Office 0/0/0, changed state to operational status down due to cable removal". What I don't understand is why the port is being changed to a down state as the cable is connected, and both the cable and phone line work when an analog phone is connected instead.
The card is installed in a Cisco 2811 router running IOS version 15.1(4)M and also has a PVDM2-8 module.
The config for the voice port is as follows
voice-port 0/0/0
cptone GB
impedance complex3
Running sh voice port 0/0/0 shows that the administrative state is up and the operational state is down.
I've tried doing a shut/no shut on port but after a few seconds the port state changes to down.
To prove the cable, phone line and router are working I've swapped the VIC2-2FXO card with an old VIC-2FXO-EU card I can successfully make and receive calls using the VIC-2FXO-EU card. Thinking that the VIC2-2FXO card is at fault, I've tried a brand new VIC2-2FXO card but still get the same problem with the port being changed to a down state.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Paul

I think you may hasve hit some side affect of a bug
CSCto63306
FXO Ground Start Calls Fail With 15.1(3)T. | |
Symptom: Upgrade IOS to 15.1(3)T and soon after the upgrade the FXO ports were alternating from onhook and offhook status on its own and calls were not working at all. FXO ports are configured as groundstart.May also see error message: "%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Foreign Exchange Office 0/3/0, changed state to operational status down due to cable removal"Conditions: Cisco IOS 15.1(3)T is used.Workaround: Downgrade to Cisco IOS version 15.1(2)T |
Fixed-In
15.2(0.16)T
15.2(0.17.1)PIA17
15.2(0.13.6)PIB17
15.1(4)M1.1
15.1(3)T1.5
Looks like you may need to upgrade to 15.1(4)M1.1
