VMware ESXi license: Free Vs Cisco VMware license

Hi All

I`m wondering what is the difference and impact of the Free ESXi license (that you can have from vmware .com ) when you deploy UC on UCS except the fact that managing the host via vcenter is not licensed (which is not yet supported by Cisco).

I really need an output on this since we have a client running UC on UCS and he is using the free license that you can download from vmware.

The Cisco DocWiki has a Services and Support Contracts for VMware are Required section that states the entire UC solution is unsupported unless there is an active VMware support contract. It does not rule out free edition but does caution against it's use due to SLA/services options available for it.

The customer hopefully has ESW and UCSS contracts. Drawing the line at the VMware support contract seems foolhardy.
