Voice Gateway family 29xx suporte SIP SRST

Hi Guys

I would like know if the all voice gateway family 29xx have support to SIP SRST. If have are there any documentation about this? I read any documentation, but, not stay clear for me.

Thanks,

Regards,

Wilson

SIP SRST with CUBE might or might not work. The reason it is not supported is because Cisco has not tested and validated the solution. If you use SIP SRST with CUBE there is no guarantee that everything will work fine or it won't. Like you see in your case, it works fine on one router but not on the other.

If you have CUBE, SIP SRST is not supported. SCCP SRST will be supported. If you are not using a CUBE, SIP/SCCP SRST should be supported.

Hi Nipun,

Thanks a lot for Your contact and explanation. I have one doubt: as I know if the gateway is using CUBE function? there are any configuration that shows this?

Thank You,

Regards,

Wilson

Both inbound and outbound legs should be IP. Check for VoIP dial-peers, if there are dial-peers to send/receive calls from both CUCM and ITSP, it is a CUBE.

I think it's a shortcut to say that if "we have dial-peers to send/receive calls from both CUCM and ITSP then it is a CUBE".

The CUBE functionality is more complex than only configure dial-peers. It's the addition of a lot of tools configured on router. First we have to dissociate inbound and outbond dial-peers per destination. Furthermore we can have on CUBE these functionalities:

Dtmf relay

Address hiding

Sip/h323 interworking

TDM Gateway

Enhanced transcoding

Voice policy

Call admission control

VXML

Etc...

All of these features sum up what is

CUBE. And the place to be of a CUBE is in DMZ infrastructure==== PROXY.

Best regards

OP never asked how does a CUBE work or what is the functionality and whether it is complex or not. In addition, TDM and CUBE are not related at all.
If I don't have any of the stated functionalities configured, can we know if a router is acting as a CUBE or not ?

For sure @R0g22, but it's not just "configuring dial-peers" that make router act as CUBE.

Best regards
.ı|ı.ı|ı. If This Helps, Please Rate .ı|ı.ı|ı.

OP asked a simple question - "how can I tell if my router is acting as a CUBE" ? Per your post, I should have told him that the CUBE has the following -

Dtmf relay
Address hiding
Sip/h323 interworking
TDM Gateway
Enhanced transcoding
Voice policy
Call admission control
VXML

I understand your point but the post was never related to how a CUBE works or how complex or simple the product is.

To add to "just configuring dial-peers", YES if I just configure 2 VoIP dial-peers pointing to different destinations and have calls going from one to the other traversing an IOS router, it makes it a CUBE and I don't need to have any other functionality especially the ones that you posted configured.
I only add functionality if the deployment calls for it. I don't need to have it on their just because it is part of CUBE feature set.

Ok, then I ask a simple question: activate the cube licence is needed in witch case?

You have to be more shape when you explain "YES if I just configure 2 VoIP dial-peers pointing to different destinations and have calls going from one to the other traversing an IOS router, it makes it a CUBE".

Is it a sip to sip connection?

H323 to sip ? Etc...

These commands are mandatory on CUBE. This is the sip/h323 interworking.

You haven't got that....it's not a CUBE.

Best regards

No one asked about CUBE licenses.

Read my post again and read what OP asked. The post was related to SIP SRST.

The only thing that makes a router a CUBE is IP to IP. I don't care whether it is SIP or H.323 and irrespective of whether there is ANY interwork or not, it is IP to IP. No one is going into what commands are needed to interwork and what not.

If I have a router with VoIP dial-peers and nothing else, it's pretty obvious that a production router would have everything else configured already for call routing and to act as a CUBE.

Copy that @R0g22

I know that this post is related to sip srst.

It's just the shortcut you use to define CUBE which is not so reflective.

Sorry if I hurt you.

Best regards
.ı|ı.ı|ı. If This Helps, Please Rate .ı|ı.ı|ı.

Nah that's fine, no need to apologise. I just found your post to be NOT related at all. I answered a simple question with an even simpler way out rather than talking about what the product accomplishes as a whole. You might like to explain it that way, but I don't. Won't really make sense to someone who has not really worked on CUBE at all. OP won't have been able to find out anything just because I would have written about all the functionalities that CUBE supports. That wasn't really helpful IMO. Other than that you are free to post your opinion.

You certainly right @R0g22

But in my mind, explain something like this doesn't permit to the OP to really have the basic aknowledgment. Acknowledgment necessary for him to continue and learn more about that item.

All days, during my course I have to teach, not using shortcuts, but the minimim to have a real picture in order to tickle students's curiosity.

That's fine. Always a pleasure to read your posts.

Best regards
