VoIP calls to numbers with IVR systems

We are experiencing issues calling numbers that have IVR recordings. According to our servie provider the answer message on the PSTN side is what is translated into a 200 OK on the SIP side. As a result we are sending a 183 session progress on the SIP side with SDP information and are streaming the media that the IVR menu is playing. To correct this the Cisco CPE needs to be configured to support early media cut-through, this will allow the caller to hear the IVR recording instead of just ringing. Need assistance with getting this configured in our environment. Current config is CUCM 8.6 and 2900 ISR.

Hmmm,

You said when you call IVR system you are sending 183 with SDP...

When you place an outbound call, your SIP provider is the one sending 183 with SDP. In this scenario, your provider is the one responsible for sending media. So if you are hearing ringing then your provider is not sending any announcement..

Can you send the ff

debug ccsip messages.

Please let me know the calling and called number...We can see whats going on

It's the SIP provider that's sending the 183 session progress. Attached is the debug you requested. Calling number 4047604963/called number 18005552725.

So here we see the configrmation that your provider is sending 183 with SDP..

By default, Cisco Unified Communications Manager  will signal the calling phone to play local ringback if SDP is not  received in the 180 or 183 response. If SDP is included in the 180 or  183 response, instead of playing ringback locally, Cisco Unified  Communications Manager will connect media, and the calling phone will  play whatever the called device is sending (such as ringback or busy  signal).

This then suggests that If you do not receive media, the device to which you are  connecting may be including SDP in the 180/183 response, but it is not  sending any media before the 200OK response.

If ITSP sends 183 with SDP, ITSP has the responsibility to play the ringback or any audio, for the CUBE or CUCM, there is only one thing to do which is to cut through media.

So you need to go back to them..They are sending ringback and not any media..thats why you hear ringback
