VOIP > PC > Switch?

I know you can

connect the PC thru the VOIP to the switch but can it be done the other way around? Our infastructure is fiber

and I'm trying to avoid the use of media converters if possible.  When bridgin a connection in

windows will the switch only see the mac/ip of the PC or will it also see the mac/ip of the voip? Looking for a viable solution to avoiding the purchase of more blades.

Hi,

It should work. The PC will bridge the VOIP to the same subnet as the PC. The switch will see both the PC MAC and the VOIP MAC. However, the PC will not provide the inline power to the VOIP.

Thanks,

QD Wang

Awesome. I haven't messed with these in a while so I wanted to make sure. Appreciate the help.

In addition to the device not receiving inline power from the PC, when the PC is turned off there wouldn't be any network conectivity so the phone would unregister.   Just something else to consider...
