Hi,
i would like to know if the ASA is still handling ipv6 in software (like the FWSM for example), or is it using its powerful hardware to handle the ipv6 traffic?
Best regards
Philipp

Phiillip.
AFAIR ASA handles all traffic in software (keep reading), we call it ASP - accelerated security path.
(At high level) There are no ASICs nor dedicated NPs, save for hardware encryption engine.
All ASAs use CPU power to deal with traffic... i.e. no cat6k style TCAM/ASICs not to punt it to CPU.
Makes sense?

Philipp, we are rolling IPv6 out across the office and also looking at the ASA I have some contacts you can talk IPv6 over with, drop me an email
