Does "ip dns server" on a Cisco router listen on IPv6 addresses?

I have the command "ip dns server" in the config on my Cisco 1841 router. Does that mean it is listening on its IPv6 addresses for DNS lookups from clients? Or are only v4 addresses supported for binding to the DNS server? I couldn't find an IPv6-specific DNS server configuration guide.

I ran nslookup from a Windows client and I used both the link-local and a custom IPv6 address assigned to the router interface but got a timeout. Wireshark shows the packets going out to the router, but not any responses.

Thanks. I tested the DNS lookup across IPv6 to a Cisco 1921, and it works, so I assume that this is a limitation on the Cisco 1841 platform. If anyone has the official documentation to link, that'd be nice.

Glad it worked well, yes made your note so i would recommend any new user have same issue.

if this resolved can you mark as solution for the benifit of new community members.
