Theoretically, yes, but this has to be handled with great care. In general we would like all NED development to be done by the Cisco NSO NED team. They have the competence, and this ensures quality and future support. There could be exceptional circumstances, where e.g. A customer requires support for a system (device) that is unique to them (e.g. A homegrown system), and hence we do not want to create a productised NED. In that case we would advise the custoemr to use a partner that has the competence and experience in creating NEDs in order to deliver and support their bespoke NED, e.g. Data Ductus (who we are using for our own NED delelopment)
Do we have a list of partners that are capable of developing NEDs?
Also, what about function packs? I will assume only Cisco can develop function packs. Is this correct? Or is it the same as NED development?
Is Itential capable of NED development?
The Tail-f BU strategy is that all NEDs are developed by the BU. Tomas from the BU can comment further on this as needed.
